The Self-Reliant Diver course is designed for PADI Advanced Open Water Divers who are at least 18 years old and have 100 logged dives. You’ll learn to compensate for situations you would normally handle with a buddy, including proper dive planning, air consumption calculations, life support system redundancy, and independent management of dive emergencies.

During three self-reliant training dives, you’ll practice essential skills such as:

• Performing an air consumption rate swim
• Switching to a redundant air supply system
• Swimming without a mask
• Navigating to various points
• Using a DSMB
