Roatan Reef Diagram

The Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System (MBRS) is 900 km long- and is the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world. Roatán forms the southernmost part of the MBRS which extends all the way from Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula down to Belize, Guatemala and ends up in the Bay Islands of Honduras. The Roatan Reef is unique in the quantity and quality of its reef and marine animals as well as its sheer beauty.

All the dive sites in Roatan are protected areas under the care of the Roatan Marine Park and this protection contributes to the continued beauty of our unique underwater world. When you dive, please pay attention to not bumping into the coral in any way so as not to damage this living structure. Please help us in supporting the Roatan Marine Park through donations and purchases during your stay.

Below is a typical layout of many areas in Roatan and what you can expect at each level. Each dive site offers unique areas that make it unique and depths can vary significantly. Only use the below diagram as a general guide for the general layout of the typical reef system.
